Funeral services for Mary Svoboda, 89, of Brookshire, were held Friday, June 24, at 2 p.m. from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sealy, with the Rev. David DuBois celebrating the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal. Interment was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Sealy. Pallbearers serving were Robert Svoboda Jr., Dennis Zylka, Michael Soboda, Jimmy Svoboda, David Svoboda, and Donovan Svoboda. Mary was born in Frydek, texas, to parents John and Marie (Poncik) Mazac. She was raised in Frydek area and attended Frydek School. On October 29, 1935 she married Mr. Charlie Svoboda with ceremony held in Frydek. Mary was a home maker all her life and helped with the family farm. She will be remembered for her baking of Kolaches, pastries, and homemade bread. Mary was a member of the KJZT, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. Mary Albina Svoboda died on Wednesday June 22 in Katy. She is survived by daughter Patsy Dean and husband Butch, sons Charlie Svoboda and wife Jeanette and Robert Svoboda and wife Henrietta, nine Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Marie (Poncik) Mazac, husband Charlie Svoboda, brothers Joe and Louis Mazac and sister Rosie Kveton.
