Memorial services for Mary E. Taylor, 83, of Milan, Ill., were held December 21st at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Milan, Ill. A private family inurement followed. Mrs. Taylor died Sunday, December 18, 2005 at the Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, Ill. Taylor was born Mary Emma Garrett on May 1, 1922 in Bellville, the daughter of William and Alma (Wolnitcek) Garrett. She attended Blinn College in Brenham and taught school in rural Austin County. She married 1st Sgt. Alvis M. Taylor on Dec. 20, 1942 and together they traveled to many Army duty stations in the U.S.A, France, Korea and japan where their first son was born. She was a devoted member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Milan, Ill, for more than 30 years. Surviving are her husband, Alvis, of milan; two sons, Alvis Jr., Peoria, Ill, and Brian (and his wife Susan), Milan; a daughter, Cynthia Muncey, Colona, Ill.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Richardson, San Antonio.
