Tipton Funeral services for Betty E. Tipton, 90, of San Felipe, were conducted Friday, September 9 at 10 a.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy with Dr. Dale Climie officiating. Interment was in the Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake. Serving as pallbearers were Paul Guthrie, Tim Atkins and Robert Goode. Born in Hungerford, Betty was the daughter of Herman and Melinda (Joines) Case. Betty lived in Hungerford, Gardwood and Oakland. On October 12, 1928 the former Miss Betty Case was joined in marriage to Mr. J.B. Tipton with a ceremony held in East Bernard. Betty was part owner of the Chicken Shack in Garwood and Nada and Granny's Bar-B-Que Barn in Garwood. Betty had been a resident of San Felipe for the last 14 years. She was a member of Pattison Apostolic Faith Church. Betty E. Tipton passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6 in Sealy. She is survived by her son, Donald Tipton and wife Barbara of San Felipe, son-in-law, David Guthrie Sr. of Garwood; sister, Johnnie Mae Kennedy of Pasadena; grandchildren and their spouses, Wendy and Sterling Schiller, Barbara and Tommy Janik, Sarah and Johnny Coats, Kenny and Candy Rountree, John and Sherlyn Baxley, Jeff and Connie Guthrie, David and Kay Guthrie, Mary Ann and Billie Batson, Pat Guthrie, Debbie and Walter Williams, Paul Guthrie and Bobby Guthrie, 24 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friend, Dorothy Grimet. Preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Melinda Case, husband, J.B. Tipton and daughter, Alma Bernice Guthrie. Services were under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels.
