Elizabeth Marie Winkler was born November 20, 1915 in Rock Prairie (College
Station), Texas the daughter of Charles and Frances Tekla Hrdlicka Schwartz
and raised in the Catholic faith. In 1933, she moved to Houston where she
graduated from a business college. Elizabeth retired in 1973, after holding
several management positions with the W.T. Grant Company.
Upon the death in August 1999, of her beloved husband of more than 62 years,
John C. Winkler, she moved to Bellville and then later moved to Brenham.
Elizabeth was a devoted member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in
Bellville, Texas. 
She passed away on Friday, March 4, 2005 in Brenham, Texas at the age of 89.
She is survived by her son; John C. Winkler Jr., and wife, Betty of
Bellville, Texas; brothers: Charles Schwartz and wife, Judy of Bryan, Texas,
Al Schwartz, Ed Schwartz and wife, Renee, and Rick Schwartz and wife,
Josephine all of Houston, Texas; Sister, Joretta Schneider and husband, Bill
of Houston, Texas (formerly of Bellville); Sister-In-Law: Martha Schwartz of
Bryan, Texas; Grandmother to: Regina, Kevin, John III and Thomas;
Great-grandmother to: Christopher, Heather, Eric and Kristopher; and
Great-great grandmother to: Trystan. She is also survived by three step
grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; and one step great-great
grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the
Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville, Texas with Father Tim Bucek
officiating. Graveside Service followed at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
