Ora Nell Krumrey Woodrick was born September 30, 1920 in Bellville, texas, the daughter of Emil and Minna Schroeder Krumrey. She grew up and attended school in Bellville graduating from Bellville High School. She then attended and graduated from Massey Business College in Houston, where she was working when she met Army Air Corps student pilot, victor Woodrick. Ora Nell and Victor were unite din marriage on June 22, 1942 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Houston. After the war they lived four years in Michigan and then they made their home in Bellville where they worked together at City Cleaners, their business on the square in Bellville from 1951 to 1965. Ora Nell also performed secretarial duties for the local gas company, First National Bank and San Bernard Electric Co-Op. A lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville where she was baptized and confirmed, she was an active member of the women's organization, taught confirmation classes for 20 years and sewed for Lutheran Work relief. She was also an active member of the American Cancer Society, and the American Legion and Bellville Hospital Auxiliaries. Known to all by her lifelong nickname, "Bill," she was an outstanding seamstress and cook, and generously used these talents for the benefit of her family and friends. Ora Nell passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005 in Bellville at the age of 84. She is survived by her husband of over 62 years: victor Woodrick of Bellville; son: James "Jim" Woodrick and wife Frances, of Austin; grandchildren: Amy Stevens and husband Scott, of Houston, Tracy Armstrong and husband A.W., of Austin; and twin great grandchildren: Sadie and Jeb Armstrong, of Austin. Also surviving are her sister-in-law: Ruth Krumrey; all of Bellville; and many other dear friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Pamela Kay, brothers Walter, Edward and Mac Krumrey, and sister Hildegard Krumrey. Funeral Services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville with Pastor David Henske and Pastor Jennie Jones officiating. Burial was in the Oak Knoll Cemetery. Pall bearers A.W. Armstrong, Scott Stevens, Doyle Krumrey, Alan Krumrey, Charles Crawford and Otto Falk Jr. In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Austin County Unit of the American Cancer Society, c/o Verna Lois Deere, PO Box 501, Bellville, TX 77418.
