Funeral services for Vlata Zalmanek, 86, of Houston, were held Saturday, June 18 at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek. Zalmanek died June 12 in Houston. Interment was at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Frydek. Pallbearers serving were Russell Green, Jerry Zalmanek, Chuck Cleveland, Steve Clopton, Matt Gentry, Joe Gentry, Stephen Hickman and Danny Hoffman. Born in Frydek, Vlasta Ann Zalmanek was the daughter of Frank Charles and Annie (Danek) Hubenak. She grew up in Frydek and graduated from Sealy High School Class of 1937. She went on to further her education at Texas A & I in Kingsville and graduated in 1962. On November 26, 1941 Vlasta and Mr. E.H. Zalmanek were married in Houston. Vlasta was an elementary special education teacher for many years. She was a member of St. rose of Lima Catholic Church in Houston, Congress of Houston Teachers, S.P.J.S. T. Chapter 88 and Texas Retired Teachers Association. Survived by: husband -- E.H. Zalmanek of Houston; children -- James Zalmanek and wife Geraldine of Bryan; Flo Condron and husband George of Katy, Joan Gentry and husband Fred of Houston and Nancy Evetts and husband Ron of Houston; grandchildren -- Jerry, Tina, Kim, chuck, Cheryl, Matt, Joe, Anna and Elizabeth; great grandchildren -- Becky, Mandy, Michelle, Catherine, Stephen, Marjorie, Kaley, Kendall and Danielle; and great great granddaughter, Savannah. Preceded in death by her parents Frank Charles and Annie Hubenak and brother, Frank Charles Hubenak Jr. Arrangements by Knesek Family Funeral Chapels.
