Jessie Sharpless (Cheyney) Green was born April 6, 1908 in Wilkes Barre, Penn. The daughter of Jesse S. and Laura May (Smith) Cheyney, she grew up and attended school in Pennsylvania graduating from high school in Wilkes Barre. She moved to Dallas in 1928. Jessie married Wayne Harold Green on Sept. 16, 1932 at the First Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas. Jessie and Wayne made their home in Dallas until 1989 when they moved to Sealy. Wayne preceded Jessie in death on May 26, 1995. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Jessie enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her daughter, Nancy. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church while they lived in Dallas, and enjoyed traveling and reading. She also supported and contributed to the Gordon Memorial Library. Jessie passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2006 in the Memorial Hermann - Katy Hospital at the age of 98. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Bush and her husband, Bill, of Sealy; grandson William M. Bush, III, and his wife, Julie, of Fort Worth; and great grandsons Cameron Wayne Bush and Connor Bush, also of Fort Worth; and many other dear friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Ellen Cheyney and a brother, Ralph Cheyney. Graveside Service was 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2006 in the Sealy Cemetery with Mr. Jerome Losack, officiating. Schmidt Funeral Home of Bellville was in charge of arrangements.
