Funeral services for Thelma Hubenak, 70, of Wallis, were held Friday, March 3, 2006 at 11 a.m. from Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis with the Rev. Richard Johnston, S.C.J. celebrating the Funeral mass and Rite of Committal. She died February 26, 2006 in Columbus. Interment was at guardian Angel Cemetery in Wallis. Pallbearers serving were Glen Blahuta, Edwin Dusek, Jerry Urbanovsky, Bob Wayne Hubenak, Leon Viaclovskey, Syl Viaclovsky and Daniel Hubenak. Honorary pallbearers was Ernest Willard. Born in Rosenberg, Texas, Thelma was the daughter of Emil and Mary (Viaclovsky) Blahuta. She was raised in Wallis and was a 1954 graduate of Orchard School and attended Wharton County Junior College in Wharton. Thelma worked as a LVN at Gulf Coast Medical Center for 36 years. The former Miss Themla Blahuta married Gene Hubenak on June 20, 1959 with a ceremony held at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis. She was a member of guardian Angel Catholic Church and a member of Catholic Daughter of Wallis Court #1538. She is survived by her son Royce Hubenak of Wallis and her daughter, Karen Miller and husband Keith, of East Bernard, and grandchildren Kami and Katelyn Miller. Preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Mary Blahuta, husband Gene Hubenak and infant brother Marvin Blahuta. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Assoc., 2909 W.
