MERCEDES FRANCES LUETGE JUMPER

Mercedes Frances Luetge Jumper died at her residence in the Spring Branch
area of Houston, March 17, 2006. She was 79. The second of seven children
born to Hilton and Ada Luetge, the family for many years resided in the
Schoenau area.
Services were conducted Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Brenham Memorial Chapel
with Bro. Mike Groseclose of Nelsonville Brethren Church officiating.
Interment followed in Shelby Cemetery.
Mercedes attended the Rock-house-Schoenau Grade School, performing many
different activities associated with farm life, and also became the "mother
hen" of the youngsters that arrived later in life.
Mercedes was well known for the immaculate way she dressed and her class and
style. Her quick wit and that infectious laugh stayed with her throughout
her life. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Houston.
Her first "job" was that of taking care of a child, Mr. James Lindemann, of
Industry, while his parents conducted their business.
She later moved to La Grange to work for the Weikel family. In 1945 she
moved to Houston with her brother, Otis Luetge, where she worked in a
variety of capacities.
On July 7, 1971, she married Kenneth Jumper, of Dallas, and they lived in
Houston until his death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers Milton and
Lester; brothers-in-law Raymond Brinkmeyer Sr. and Bill Stark and nephew
Raymond Charles Brink-meyer Jr.
Mrs. Jumper leaves to mourn her two sisters, Virginia Stark of Bleiblerville
and Waldine Brinkmeyer of Brenham; two close sisters-in-law Nora Dell Marek
Luetge and May Dickey Luetge; two brothers and wives, Harris and Doris of
Houston and Otis and Elma Dale of Shelby; along with a host of close
relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Branch Luetge, Rocky Luetge, Mark Luetge, Rodney Luetge,
Darrell Ainley, Charles Jankowiak, Darrell Krueger and Tim Janish.
Memorials may be directed to St. Peter Lutheran Church of Houston.
Arrangements were handled by Brenham Memorial Chapel.
