Henry Otto Newman Jr. was born in Bellville on June 7, 1931, the son of
Henry Sr. and Jennie Fisher Newman.
He was a lifelong resident of Bellville where he attended school.
On Jan. 15, 1955, Henry was united in marriage to Ms. Rosiele Wiktorik in
Somerville. They made their home in Bellville where he was employed at A.J.
Smith Floor Company until going to work for the Texas Highway Department in
1969.
After 24 years of dedicated service with TxDOT, he retired in 1993.
A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Henry enjoyed fishing, traveling
and working at the bakery.
He was a life member of the Sons of Hermann organization.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Rosiele Newman of
Bellville; son Michael Newman of Bellville; daughter Sherry Newman Welty and
her husband Brent, of Indiana; grandchildren Michael newman, Angela, Ashley
and Chad Welty; cousin Tommy Newman and his wife Louise, of William Penn.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Sr. and Jennie Newman, brother
Willie Newman and sister Sarah Jane King.
Funeral service was 2 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2006 at Schmidt Funeral Home
Chapel in Bellville with the Rev. D.H. Strickland officiating.
Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Chris Grimes, David Cloyd, Neil Wendt, Terry
Wiktorik, Michael Newman and Chad Welty.
In lieu of usual remembrances, friends who wish may make memorial gifts to
the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, care of Perry Marek, 117 Machemehl Drive,
Bellville, Texas, 77418.
Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville was in charge of arrangements.
