 Funeral Services for Arthur Joseph "A.J." Stayton, 80, of Cat Spring were
held Friday, June 9,2006, at 10 a.m. from St. John Lutheran Church in Cat
Spring with the Rev. Kevin Haug officiating. Interment was held at St. John
Lutheran Cemetery in Cat Spring. Serving as pallbearers were William
Hegemeyer, Bob Martinak, Daniel Cerny, Gene Barcak, Jon Zientek, Richard
Keating, Alan Chandler and Larry Sodek. Honorary pallbearers; Earl Wolchik,
Wilfred Eckardt, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge 88 Men's Club, PoL.K.ofA. Chapter 1 and
C.T.S. Fan Club.
Born in Jackson County, Texas, A.J. was the son of Arthur Joseph Stayton,
Sr. and Ethel Joines Stayton. He was raised in Laward, Texas and graduated
from Laward High School.
A.J. served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
On March 19, 2005, Mr. Stayton married Carol Liebscher in Cat Spring at St.
John Lutheran Church.
He worked 30 years for the Texas Highway Department and retired a

Arthur Joseph "A.J." Stayton Jr. died Sunday, June 4, 2006 in Bellville.
Survived by his wife Carol Stayton of Cat Spring; sons Melvin Arthur Stayton
of Leakey, Texas, Arthur Joseph Stayton III of Houston and John DeWayne
"J.D." Stayton of Houston, and 3 grandsons Blake, Arthur IV and Casey
Preceded in death by his parents Arthur Sr. and Ethel Stayton; 2 brothers
Gordon and Milton Stayton, and 2 sisters Stella Kirkpatrick and Rene
