Vaughn R. Boyd Vaughn, age 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 29, 2007. Boyd graduated from Harrold High School as Valedictorian in 1939, and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in 1943 and a Masters degree in 1947 from the University of North Texas. His Masters thesis was read before Congress and helped improve the Veterans educational benefits bill that was passed through the House of Representatives. He joined the Navy in 1943, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander in the US Naval Reserves in 1959. Boyd taught school and was the principal of Bellville High School, and worked in the North East Independent School District as teacher, Assistant Principal at Krueger Middle School, and Roosevelt High School. He retired from the teaching profession in 1980. Boyd is survived by his wife of 62 years Frances; sons, James (Stella) and Robert Vaughn; daughter, Victoria Polzin (Russell); grandchildren, Michael and Jenny Vaughn, Ryan and Adam Polzin, and great-grandchildren, Terry Vaughn and Brody Polzin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 733 Cross St., New Braunfels TX 78130. He will be missed by all. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Funeral Service will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North with Revs. Brad McClain, Craig Windham and Daniel Jennings officiating.
