A. C. Machemehl, Jr., 86, died peacefully in Bellville on June 30, 2008.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 3, 2008 from St. John Lutheran Church, 520 N. Holland, Bellville with the Rev. Jennie Jones and Rev. David Henske,
officiating. Interment was in Oak Knoll Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Marcus Machemehl, John Paul Machemehl, Dan McGinn, John Harrell, Leroy Machemehl,
Charlie Fogarty, Larry Fogarty, and Herbert Schumann. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Graham, isador Zander, Vit Janda, and Dr. James Lamp.
A.C. was born on August 8, 1921, in Bellville, living all his life in the town he loved. After graduating from Bellville High School, he attended Blinn College
and went on to graduate from Texas A&M, Class of 1943, after which time he was commissioned into the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant serving in the
China-Burma-India Theatre during World War II.
After returning from the way, he settled in Bellville and married Agatha (Aggie) Look of Somerville on August 25, 1947. He began his career as a Vocational
Agricultural Teacher instructing young men who were returning from the war. He went on to the world of business with his friend, H.G. “Baldy” Harrison
operating a Ful-O-Pep Feed Mill while starting a cattle and poultry business. He joined Texas Farm Bureau in 1946 serving as a member of the Austin County Board
of Directors, then State Director and President and later became a Field Man traveling over the Texas Southeast and the Gulf Coast counties promoting agriculture.
During this time he served for 14 years as a member of the Bellville ISD School Board, member of VFW Post 6522, and was a faithful attendee of Aggie Muster. He
retired in 1986 and spent his time traveling around the world, visiting his children and grandchildren and enjoying his garden and cattle operation.
He is survived by his daughters, Abby Sandlin of Houston and Debby McGinn and husband, Dan, of Arlington, VA; sons, Paul Machemehl and wife, Dannie Turner, of
Bellville and Al Machelmehl and his partner, John Harrell of Portland, OR; his beloved grandchildren, Marcus Machemehl of College Station, Sarah Sandlin of
Houston, Amy and John Paul Machemehl of Sugar Land and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, A.C. Machemehl, Sr. and Ella Strauss Machemehl; his beloved wife of 54 years, Agatha (Aggie) Look Machemehl; brother,
Leroy Machemehl; sisters, Lucille Fogarty, Bernice Jenkins and Anita Machemehl.
