Funeral Services for Joyce Ann Syptak, 61, of Nelsonville were held on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 at
10 a.m. from Nelsonville Brethren Church in Nelsonville with the Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating.
Interment followed in the National Cemetery in Nelsonville.
Serving as pallbearers were Billy Sisa, Frankie Macat, Joe Chovanec, Everett Wright, Tim
Janish and Barry Wieprecht.Honorary pallbearers were John Syptak, Scott Syptak, Jeffery Heritage and Sam Heritage.
Joyce was born in Ennis, Texas to parents, Frankie and Ethelyn (Harrison) Wofford. Joyce was raised
in Orange and later moved to Houston.
She attended George Washington Junior High and Regan High School in Houston.
On March 23, 1964 the former Miss Joyce Ann Wofford was joined in marriage to Mr. Delvin J.
Syptak with a ceremony held in Nelsonville Brethren Church by the Rev. Henry Beseda.
Joyce worked as an Activity Director at Sweetbriar Nursing Home in Bellville. She was the
manager of Hartz Chicken for 10 years in Brenham. After completing classes in Austin to become a Dietitian, she was employed by the old Sweetbriar Nursing
Home in Brenham. Joyce also worked at Winn’s and Must Be Heaven Restaurant in Bellville with her daughter Lisa.
She was a member of Nelsonville Brethren Church, the Sons of Hermann and Bleiblerville Volunteer
Fire Department. She enjoyed sewing and taking care of her grandkids. Her grandkids were the light of her life. She taught Sunday school for Nelsonville
Brethren Church when her children were small and she volunteered at the West End School reading to her grandkids classes.
Joyce Ann Syptak passed away Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 in Nelsonville.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Delvin J. Syptak of Nelsonville, daughter, Lisa Heritage and
husband Sam of Nelsonville, grandchildren, Jeffery, Mackenzie and Skyler Heritage, mother-in-law, Vlasta Syptak of Nelsonville, sisters-in-law, Kitty
Little of Houston and Shirley Syptak of Columbus, nieces and nephews, John and Scott Syptak, Jason Wright, Gaylynn Little, Shanna and Rachel Chatlosh, Cindy Kyle,
Dudley Elton Ware, II and Kevin King.
Preceded in death by her parents, Frankie and Ethelyn Wofford, son, Ricky W. Syptak, sister and
brother-in-law, Frankie Jane and Dudley Ware, sister-in-law, Judy Wright and brother-in-law, Johnny Syptak, Jr.
