Adele Meyer Abel, of Bellville, TX passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009 in Bellville, TX.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 10:00 AM from St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Jeannie
Jones and Rev. David Henske, officiating. Interment was in Oak Knoll Cemetery.
Adele was born August 17, 1909 in Rogers, TX, the daughter of William Meyer, Jr. and Johanna Hoppe Meyer. She
lived and attended Catholic school in Cameron, TX. Adele and her family moved to Austin County and settled in the New Bremen community where she attended public
school. She was united in marriage to Raymond John Abel on June 17, 1937 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville, TX. They lived in the Cochran
community and later moved to the Burleigh community until 1977 when they moved to Bellville. Along with being a homemaker Adele worked in Houston and Sealy. She
cleaned house for the Engelking family in Sealy. Adele worked beside her husband growing cotton, corn and raising cattle. She had a passion about flower
gardening, sewing and making quilts. Adele did her own quilting and each quilt was pieced by hand. She made all of her girl’s clothes. Her yard was always
filled with some kind of blooming flowers. Adele was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Bellville.
She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Abel Krolczyk and husband, Will and Doris Abel Hagen and husband,
James, daughter-in-law, Sandy Abel, grandchildren, Damon Hagen and wife, Dana, Nikki Rae Abel, all of Bellville, TX, and Kacie Lyn Thuesen of Katy, TX, great
granddaughter, Samantha Storm Hagen of Bellville, TX. along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Meyer, Jr. and Johanna Hoppe Meyer, husband, Raymond John Abel,
son, William Ray “Butch” Abel and brother, Bennie A. Meyer.
