Funeral Services for Nola Blazek were held Friday, Jan, 16, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frydek with the Rev. Thuy Quang Nguyen celebrating the funeral Mass and Rite of committal. Interment was in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Frydek. Pallbearers for the service were Chris Whitcomb, Steven Whitcomb, Randy Hrnicko, Todd Horelica, Carence Janicek and Carence Blazek. 

A parish wake service was held on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 by Deacon Jerome Losak and a parish rosary was recited by the K.J.Z.T. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. 

Nola Seidel Blazek was born in Brenham, Texas, the daughter of Ernest and Minnie Altmann Seidel. She was raised in the Latium community and attended Latium Public School. 

Nola married Frank Blazek, Jr. on Feb. 5, 1936 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Industry. They made their home in Sealy while he was employee at Humble Oil and Refining Company in Katy.

Nola passed away on Jan. 13, 2009, as a resident of Colonial Belle Nursing Home in Sealy. She was 95 years young and the last surviving member of her family. 

Nola loved to visit with her family at Christmas time and other special times. She always baked fruit cakes and cookies for her grand, great and great-great grandchildren and friends. 

Nola was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Frydek, SPJST in Nelsonville and Bleiblerville, associate member of KJZT society # 29 at St. Mary’s in Frydek and an active member of AARP of Sealy. She was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed many things in life, but the last few years that she could get around she seemed to enjoy playing bingo and forty- two dominios with her friends more than anything else. When she was still driving, she would always be willing to pick up her friends to take them to bingo, and when she couldn’t drive she attended both the senior citizens group in Wallis and the First Methodist Church fun and games for seniors in Sealy, enjoying and taking part in the entertainment and relaxation. 

Nola was blessed with two daughters, Ellen Jean Hrnicko and husband Ellison of Wallis, Sherry Whitcomb and husband Robert of Sealy. She was further blessed with five grandchildren, Randy and wife Vanessa Hrnicko, Susie and husband John Bohac, Stephen Whitcomb, Christopher and wife Kristin Whitcomb and Patricia Horelica (deceased). 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. 

Nola was preceded in death by: parents, Ernest and Minnie Seidel, husband, Frank Blazek, Jr., sisters, Olivia Makowsky and Mabel Kasse, brothers, Herbert and Ernest Seidel, Jr. and granddaughter, Patricia Horelica. 

Funeral Services were held under the direction of Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy.
