Susan Jeanne Daniel was born Jan. 6, 1955, in Roanoke, Va., the daughter of Calvin and Ruby (Nabhan) Huffman.
She grew up and attended school in El Paso and the Del Rio area, before receiving her diploma from Coronado High
School in 1973.
She owned and operated a fur coat company in her younger years which was named, “The Cover Up” located in El
She also was an actively involved in politics and campaigning and assisted with elections in El Paso. Susan was a
member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and was named MS Woman of the Year Award in 1982.
She was united in marriage to Steven Mark Daniel on April 22, 1995, in Fredricksburg, Texas. Susan and Steven
lived in Houston before relocating to Bellville, where they made their home.
A homemaker, Susan greatly enjoyed cooking for her family. When dining out, she was always aware when an
experienced chef had prepared her meal. Bird watching was a pastime she truly enjoyed. She loved to travel around the world and visited were the time spent with
her family. She always strived to bring out the happiness in all and become a role model to those who knew her.
She passed away on May 19, 2009, at her home in Bellville at the age of 54.
She leaves behind her husband: Steve Daniel of Bellville, daughters: Rhaelynne Scherr and her husband Eric Frank,
of San Diego, Calif., Maxey Scherr of El Pasoand Whitney Scherr of San Antonio; stepsons: Mark Daniel and his wife Tara and Nicholas Daniel all of Magnolia;
grandchildren: Kaira Frank, Tryston Obevoen and Khian Frank; brothers: Calvin Huffman, Jr. and his wife Helen, James Huffman and his wife, Luz Elena and Terry
Huffman all of Houston, and Danny Huffman of Orlando, Fla.; parents-in-law: Vernon and Anita Daniel of Fredricksburg, Texas; sister-in-law: Linda Mann and her
husband, Doug, of Gillette, Texas, and many other dear friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2009 at Schmidt Funeral Home.
The funeral service was at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Bellville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Amy
Interment was at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.
