George Robert Gollmer, 84, of Bellville passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2009.

He was bom in 1924 in the Star Hill community and attended school in Star Hill, Bradberry, Industry and Bellville and graduated from Bellville High School in 1942.

George served his country in the Navy from 1944 to 1946 in the Asia PacificTheater, He was a residential and commercial builder, primarily in Bellville and thesurrounding area, until retiring in 2003.  He enjoyed his cattle, hunting, fishing,gardening and watching football, especially the Bellville Brahmas, Arkansas Razorbacksand Pittsburgh Steelers, He was a member of the Bellville VFW Post 6522.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edmund Christian Gollmer and Frieda Koch Gollmer, his son George Robert (Rob) Gollmer, Jr., and brothers Hubert (Red) Gollmer, Edmund Gollmer and Fred Gollmer.

George is survived by his companion of over 30 years JoAnn Hinze and her son Kurt Hinze both of Bellville, his daughter Rhonda Gollmer Ewbank and husband Dennis of Houston, grandchildren Sean Gollmer of Federalsburg, Maryland and Heather Gollmer Maresh and husband Michael of Houston, sister-in-law Mrs. Fred C. (Marion) Gollmer of Waller, nephew Fredrick Gollmer of Houston, and other beloved relatives and friends.

Family visitation was Monday, March 2, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m., and a funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Knesek Brothers Funeral Chapel in Bellville with the Rev. Amy Haralson of Bellville United Methodist Church officiating.   Interment followed in Pilgrimís Rest Cemetery in Bellville.

Pallbearers were Mike Burnham, Dennis Ewbank, Kurt Hinze, Don Luedke, Fritz J. Neumann III, and Victor Uhrek. Honorary pallbearers were Scan Gollmer, C. F. (Buck) Kollman, J. W. Luedke and James Ripple. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
