Anna Lucille Johnson-Jones
Our beloved Lucille was born in Bellville, December 5, 1920 to Mr. Gilbert Obey and Ms. Menthia Warner.
Our Lucille’s deep roots in Christianity and abiding faith started at an early age with her parents, her
extended family circle, and village of friends teaching her “the word”. As to her religious affiliation, Miss Lucille transferred her membership from
Louisville Baptist Church, in 1996, to New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. She and her husband, Deacon Earl “Sonnyman” Jones united with Jerusalem
together, as a working team (both joined at the same time)! She was an active board and choir memner, at New Jerusalem. She also served as a Deaconess,
Hospitality Committee Member & Prayer Warrior until her health started to fail. Her formal public education was started at Spicer Elementary and she graduated
from the historic Bellville Colored High School.
Lucille’s first marriage was to John D. Johnson, Sr. To this union one son was born, John D. “JJ” Johnson,
Jr. “Miss Lucille” and John Sr. divorced when John Jr. was about four years old. Both preceded her in death. In 1990, our “Miss Lucille” united, in holy
wedlock with Earl “Sonnyman” Jones, of Bellville. She and “Sonnyman” remained united until her death, on December 20, 2009.
Left to cherish her memories, as a loving and caring person: Husband/Deacon Earl Jones, of Bellville;
Daughter-in-law Arnell Stripling Johnson, of Houston; along with three Grandsons: John D. Johnson, III (Jennifer) of Bellville; Christopher T.S. Johnson (Brandi)

Brandon’s boys, Malachi & Baby John; and she also leave a legacy of four generations of loving cousins, and a host of friends.
