William Rudolph Kendrick, 80, passed away into the loving arms of our Lord on Nov. 12, 2009 after a courageous
battle with mesothelioma.
He was born to William Elliott and Bertha Kendrick on Aug. 7, 1929.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, craftsman, and master of all trades. Everything Bill aspired to do he
accomplished with zeal and perfection. In his earlier years he excelled in snow and water skiing, scuba diving, flying small aircraft, and was a Houston High
In 1961, Bill held a World Record for the largest Grouper speared. After serving his country in WWII aboard the
USS Carp and the USS Sea Dog, Bill was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy Submarine Service.
He owned Panelmasters, Inc. for many years and retired after working extensively in the construction business.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leon Kendrick, sister Elsie Squires, and his cherished dog
He is survived by his devoted wife Mary, his beloved children Penny Kendrick Schellenberg and husband Steve;
Richard Kendrick and wife Sheila; Lisa Kendrick and Dale Oliphant and Shelly Kendrick Meyer and husband Duane. Bill was also a wonderful dad to Mary’s
daughters Terri Kahlden and husband David and Toni Swann. Cherished grandchildren are Tammy Sponsler, Alysia Flinn, Courtney and Aaron Meyer, Justin and Jamie
Kahlden and Nikki and Sara Swann. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law Vi Kendrick, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Bill, also known as Rudy to many friends and family, will always be loved for his ability and willingness to give
love and support to those around him. He is now and forever will be greatly missed.
The family received visitors from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home and funeral services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at Cypress United Methodist Church, 13403 Cypress North Houston Road, Cypress.
