Funeral services for Tom Kestler, RPh, 67, of Bellville were held on Monday, Nov. 27, 2009, at 10 a.m. from St.
Roch Catholic Church in Mentz with the Rev. Wayne Flagg celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal.
Interment followed in the St. Roch Cemetery in Mentz.Pallbearers were Fred Dahlmann, Leroy Patton, Larry Hamby,
Roger Mickan, Gregg Doiron and Hal Doiron. Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. Welton Hill and Ken Doiron.
Tom was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and never
missed an opportunity to attend their various sporting events, school plays, or to volunteer as a babysitter.
Tom was raised in Algiers, La., a small community in New Orleans.
He graduated from Northeast Louisiana College with a pharmaceutical degree, and married Miss Judy Doiron at St.
Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Thornwell, La., on Oct. 15, 1966.
Tom and Judy, along with their family, moved to Bellville in 1978.
Tom cared for and assisted the citizens of Bellville by serving as a pharmacist at Thrifty Pharmacy for 20 years.
He was always willing to lend a helping hand or to answer the questions of a customer in need.
After Tomís retirement from Thrifty, he worked for the past 10 years for Wal-Mart Pharmacy mainly in Brenham.
Tom was a generous and caring man who gave of his time to assist others. He was a devout Catholic and an
active member of St. Roch Catholic Church in Mentz.
Tom is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy Kestler, of Bellville; sons, Tom Kestler and wife Julie of Tyler;
Bryan Kestler and wife Kristen of Port Lavaca; daughters, Kristi Schumann and husband Brian of Bellville; Kelli Evatt and husband Brent of Richmond; brother,
Bruce John Kestler of Baton Rouge, La.; grandchildren, Madison Evatt, Shelby Kestler, Brandon Evatt, Zach Kestler, Connor Kestler, Hunter Schumann, Blain Evatt,
Kamryn Kestler, James Schumann, and Katie Schumann. Tom is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Thelma Kestler and sister-in-law, Mary Kestler.
