Thelma A. (Meier) Kloss, 84, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009 in Brenham.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 10 a.m. from St. John Lutheran Church in
with the Rev. Jennie Jones and Rev. David Henske, officiating. Burial was in Sealy Cemetery, Sealy.
Serving as pallbearers were David Kloss, Christopher Kloss, Karl Kloss, Jonathan Kloss, Danny
Feland, Carl Walther. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Kloss and Jeff Kloss, Andy Gurka, John Zuber, Brian Schumann and Scott Schumann and Mike Michaelis.
Thelma was born Oct. 19, 1924, the daughter of Adolph A. and Alma (Ewald) Meier of Sealy. She was
raised in the Cleveland Community, educated in the Cleveland Community School, and graduated from Sealy High School. Thelma was raised in the Lutheran
faith, baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Cat Spring.
During WWII, Thelma worked as a teacher in Shelby. Later she worked as a telephone operator until
after her marriage.
On March 26, 1947, she married Charlie A. Kloss at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. As well
as a housewife and mother, Thelma was Charlie’s helper in all farming and ranching activities throughout her life. She was an accomplished seamstress and
a wonderful cook. She was a faithful volunteer for the March of Dimes and the Cancer Society throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Joylene Kloss Sorensen and husband, Rev. Robert Sorensen, son,
Douglas Kloss and wife, Karen, seven grandchildren, Christie Sorensen Gurka and husband, Andy of College Station, Emily Sorensen Feland and husband, Danny of
Sealy, Katrina Sorensen Walther and husband, Carl of College Station and Austin, David Kloss of Sealy, Christopher Kloss of Laredo, Karl Kloss and wife, Melissa
of Sealy, and Jonathan Kloss and wife, Natalie of Sealy, two great grandchildren, Jeremy Feland and Samantha Sorensen, sisters-in-law, Adelheid Kloss and Rose
Marie Trenckmann, nephew, J. C. Kloss and wife, Glenda & family along with numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Kloss, her parents, Adloph and Alma Meier,
brother, Melvin Meier, brother-in-law, Richard Kloss and sister-in-law, Elfrieda Kloss.
