David Earl Lydic was born April 19, 1930, in Wilmington, Del., the son of James B. and Olive Gilmore Lydic. He
grew up and attended schools in Nederland; then he moved to Lake Jackson where he reared his family with love and devotion. He later moved to Beaumont and
finally to Bellville. David served his country in the United States Navy from 1947-1950 and was honorably discharged from the reserve in1954.
A Methodist by faith, he was united in marriage to Lanora Morton Dees on May 22, 1991, in Beaumont, Texas
where they created another welcoming home that nurtured their adult children and loved and enjoyed their grandchildren. He edited the Texas Dow Employees’
Credit Union Newsletter and served on their board. He was a member of the Bellville Masonic Lodge, American Legion of Bellville, Austin County Historical
Society, City of Bellville Library Board, and the Austin County Jail Museum, where are as docent he loved showing vistitors and school children its historic
building. David liked being active and engaged in his community wherever he lived.
David enjoyed target shooting, wood carving, cartooning and drawing. He was a member of the Bellville
United Methodist Church and loved spending time with his family and friends.
David passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the age of 79, in Bellville.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lanora Lydic, of Bellville; sons: David L. Lydic and his wife,
Susan, of Austin and Robert Paul Lydic and his wife, Edna, of Lake Jackson; daughter: Carol Lydic Gay, of Austin. He is also survived by his grandchildren:
Stephen and Joel Lydic, Leslie and Eric Gay and Christopher, Theresa and Sarah Lydic and step-grandson, Frank Weissmann. He is also survived by his
brother-in-law, Carl Bledsoe, and by great grandchildren: Erika and Elizabeth Lydic, Zayne Lydic and Sienna Rose Gay. He was preceded in death by his parents,
first wife, Carlita Lydic, brother, Ralph Lydic, and step-children, Carey Dees and Denise Weissmann. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation was held on Sunday, June 14, 2009, from 5-7 p.m., at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville.
Funeral Service was at 11 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2009, at the Bellville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Amy
Haralson officiating. Interment was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the Restwood Memorial Park in Lake Jackson.
