Elna Elizabeth Neumann was born March 18, 1919, in Bellville where she lived for the first 86 years
of her life.
The daughter of Fritz and Lena Berger Kemper, she grew up and attended school in Austin County.
Elna was baptized June 8, 1919, and later confirmed March 25, 1934, at St. Paul ís Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg.
Elna was united in marriage July 12, 1947, with Horace Albert Neumann.
Horace preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1969.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elna was a member of St. John Lutheran
Church in Bellville. She enjoyed gardening, cooking Sunday lunch for her entire family, music, fishing, playing cards, and was an excellent seamstress.
She passed away Monday, April 27, 2009, in Brenham at the age of 90.
She is survived by her daughters Janell Dierking and her husband, Charles, Ann Muchow and her
husband, Kenneth, all of Brenham; grandchildren Tracy Godfrey and her husband, Quinn, of San Antonio, Leslie Schaper and her husband, Kenneth, of Brenham,
Becky Linseisen and her husband, Keith, of Bellville, Bradley Muchow and his wife, Nycole, of Bryan; great grandchildren Avery and Slade Godfrey, Kaylie,
Lexie and Hunter Schaper, Brett and Blake Linseisen; sisters-in-law Caroline Kemper of Bellville and Betty Reinicke of Madisonville; sister-in-law and
brother-in-law Annie and Sal Zanfardino of Katy; and special friend Caroline Weed of Brenham. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides Elnaís husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law,
Walter and Irene Kemper, brother, Leroy Kemper, sister and brother-in-law, Lenora and George Reinicke, and great grandson Tyler Schaper.
Family received friends Tuesday, April 28, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in
Funeral service was 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville
with Pastor David Henske and Pastor Jennie Jones officiating.
Pallbearers will be Heath Paul Kemper, Kerwin Kemper, Michael Przyborski, Jr., Jimmie Reinicke,
Darrell Tidwell and Jerry Watson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Quinn Godfrey, Keith Linseisen, Bradley Muchow and Kenneth Schaper.
Burial followed in the Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville.
