Thomas Richter, 66 of Industry, passed away in Houston Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009.
He was born Oct. 27, 1942 in Industry to Alfred and Ruth (Niebuhr) Richter.
He attended West End Elementary, Bellville High School and Blinn College.
On Oct. 9, 1965, he was married to Margaret Dierking in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome by the
Rev. Walter Wolf. He worked in construction for over 20 years and for Lindemann Store for over 20 years. Judge Richter served as Justice of the Peace Precinct #2
of Austin County over 30 years, until his death.
Judge Richter was on the Bellville ISD board of trustees for 16 years. He served on the board of
directors for West End Water Supply, which he helped form. He was a member of the Lions Club and Industry Fire Department for over 35 years, The Share Cropper’s
Club, South Texas Wheelspinners and Crank Twisters Tractor Club, Bellville FFA Alumni, Austin County Farm Bureau, Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome serving on
church council several times. His love for old cars and tractors was very big. Many friends were made with these organizations and he will be missed.
Judge Richter was preceded in death by: parents; wife Margaret on April 15, 2003; parents-in-law,
Marvin “M.H.” and Ester Dierking; brother William Richter; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Faye Roeske, Daniel Dierking.
His loving family includes: daughter Ronda Hutcherson and husband Kevin of Magnolia; grandchildren,
Trevor and Morgan Hutcherson; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Janis Richter of Austin, Robert and Sharon Richter of Pearland; sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law, Erline and Tom Ferguson, Dorothy Dierking, Marilyn Dierking, Rodney Roeske; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral service was Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome with the Rev.
David Klak officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Garth Griffin, Douglas Marek, Sheriff R. DeWayne Burger, Constable Dave Schulz,
Todd Dierking, Trent Dierking, Steven Richter, Scott Richter, James Lindemann, Russell Wait, Dr. Stuart Nathan and David Galle.
