Funeral services for Elvis E. Sebesta, 94, of Rosenberg, was at 10 a. m., Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009 at Davis-Greenlawn
Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg with Brother Larry Butcher officiating.
Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 in the State Room of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in
Elvis was born Oct. 30, 1915 near Bleiblerville in Austin County to Joe and Emilie Liska.
On Oct. 21, 1939 she married Frank Sebesta at the Rosenberg Brethren Church by the late Rev. Henry Beseda, Sr.
Oct. 21, 1989 was a very special occasion.
Elvis and Frank celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. It was special in that Rev. Henry Beseda, Jr.
performed the renewing of their wedding vows.
Arthur Sebesta was present as best man, Adeline Sorrells as matron of honor and Ethel Sebesta Mikeska
attended as witness. All three were in the 1939 wedding ceremony.
Elvis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Elvis loved the outdoors. She enjoyed working in
their spring and fall vegetable gardens and flower beds. Elvis loved to cook and her homemade chicken noodle soup and chicken fried steak baked in the oven were
She also had excellent recipes for canning and baking. Homemade sauerkraut, pickles, onions, apple strudel
and cheese kolaches were some of her best.
Elvis was a member of the Rosenberg Brethren Church, Sunday School and Christian Sisters. She, along with Frank,
were members of the church choir.
Elvis was a resident at the Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation in Richmond and on Sunday, Nov. 1, along with her
family, celebrated her 94th birthday.
She passed away Dec. 7, 2009 in Richmond.
Elvis is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sebesta; her parents, Joe and Emilie Liska; brothers, Franklin,
Otis and Dennis Liska; and nephews, Terry and John Liska.
She is survived by her sister, Adeline Sorrells of Rosenberg; sons and daughters-in-law, Frank Jr. and Peggy of
Rosenberg, James and Mary Lee of Sugar Land and Joe and Benita of Rosenberg; grandchildren, Nathan, Kelly and Hayley; along with other relatives and many friends.
The family would like to thank all of her past and present caregivers, the staff at Cambridge Health and
Rehabilitation and a very special thank you to Compassionate Care Hospice.
