Jerome “Jerry” Albert Spacek, 80, of Richmond went to be with our Lord, Satuday, August 29, 2009 at his home
after a lengthy illness.
He was born on Sept. 21, 1928 in Bellville to Anton I. Spacek Sr. and Mary Zapalac Spacek.
He honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 untli 1954 in Korea. He retired after many years with Exxon-Mobil
Oil Company. He was a very active member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Alief.
Jerry spent time almost every day, as a volunteer, in calling bingo, barbecuing, yard work, and any other way he
could be of service at the church. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Grand Knight of Post 77, and served as District Deputy.
Jerry enjoyed playing dominoes, yard work, gardening, and spending time in Bellville at the Spacek family farm
with his brothers. He was a wonderful dad, grandpa, and great grandpa and loved all his family very much.
Jerry had a great sense of humor, and a very special way of being there to assist all his family and friends at
just the right time. He will be truly missed.
Rosary was at 7:00 p.m. on Wed. Sept. 2, 2009, at Forest Park Funeral Home in Houston with his fellow Knights in
Funeral services were held with Mass at Notre Dame Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m., Thurs., Sept. 3, 2009. Graveside
services also included U.S. Navy Military honors.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Shirley Myers Spacek, his parents, sisters and brothers
including John Spacek and Joe L. Spacek who lived in Bellville.
He is survived by his son, Richard Spacek and wife, Beverly Spacek of Richmond, daughters, Linda Vaurecka and
husband Robert Vaurecka of Needville and Judy Spacek of Rosenburg and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Also, sister-in-law, Barbara Spacek, and nephew, James Gregory Spacek, who also served as pallbearer, and wife
Kimberly Spacek, great niece, Amanda Lauren Spacek, great nephew, Hunter Joseph Spacek, all of Bellville.
Also serving are numerous other nieces, nephews and many friends.
