Funeral Services for Betty Jo Peters Strauss, 72, of Sealy were held on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at 10
a.m. from Knesek Bros. Hwy 36 Chapel with the Rev. Thomas G. Wessmen officiating.
Interment followed in the Sealy Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Vernon Goebel, Robby Hollis, Ernie Gross, Aubry Landrum, James
“Bubba” Duke and Michael Wallace.
Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren, Clint Anders, Ryan Strauss and Jamie Anders.
Betty was born on Feb. 12, 1936 in Bellville to parents Joe and Ella Mae (Burlingame) Peters. She
was raised in Bellville and graduated from Bellville High School Class of 1954.
On March 25, 1956 the former Miss Betty Peters was joined in marriage to Mr. R.L. “Bobby”
Strauss with a ceremony held in Bellville.
Betty was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sealy and Woodmen of the World. Betty was a
genuine homemaker. She took care of her children and grandchildren, attending all of their functions. Betty had a zest for life. She loved to dance and embraced
everything with a smile.
Betty was a talented seamstress, sewing her own clothes and her children’s clothes and made
beautiful quilts. Betty was a quiet person with an electric smile that made everyone feel welcome. She loved and cared for many people.
Betty Jo Peters Strauss passed on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 in Bellville surrounded by her loving
Betty is survived by her husband of 52 years, R.L. “Bobby” Strauss of Sealy, daughters, Patsy
Anders and husband James of Weimer and Peggy Strauss of Sealy, son, Perry Strauss of Sealy, brother, Frankie Peters and wife Jean of Sealy, sisters, Geraliene
Boehme of New Ulm, Joyce Dittert and husband Curtis of Brenham and Alice Gross and husband Lewellyn of New Ulm, grandchildren, Clint and Jamie Anders and Ryan
Strauss and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Ella Mae Peters and twin grandsons, Kurt and Jake
Memorial Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 172 Selman Drive, Sealy, Texas
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapel in Sealy.
