Funeral services for Emanuel James Swonke, 91, of Cat Spring, were held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at 4 p.m. from
Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Haug, officiating. Interment followed in Industry Methodist Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Elwood Moore, Larry Klovenski, Tom Swonke, Ed Walkup, Don Demny and Marvin Klovenski.
Jim was born to parents, Frank and Ophelia Elizey Swonke on Sept. 21, 1917 in Dobbin, Texas.
He was raised and attended schools in Dobbin.
Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 receiving the Bronze Star along with numerous other medals.
On May 14, 1965 he was united in marriage to Ms. Mamie Luetge in Houston.
Jim was a member of American Legion Post 654 and retired from TRW Mission Mfg as a machinist.
Jim passed away on Sept. 15, 2009 in Bellville.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie Swonke of Cat Spring, son, James Wayne Swonke of Bellville, step-daughter
Delores Burch of Dallas, stepson Bo Ashun of Rosenberg, daughter in law Brenda Swonke of Henderson, N.C., grandchildren, Kymm De Long, Lisa Swonke, Kristen
Marks, Marlene Atkinson and Kristie Lovings, step grandchildren John, Brad and Jeff Curtis, Kassie Macina, Kallie Hicks, Katy McGehee and Kian Collins and step
great grandson Luke Hicks, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, son Roger Dale Swonke, sisters, Lela Swonke, Clara Hester, Elsie Mulcahy,
Alma Butzke and Ruby Klovenski; brothers, Frank, Phillip, Raymond, Floyd and James Swonke, step-daughter Peggy Collins.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy.
