Funeral Services for Vlasta Hermina Syptak, 91, of Nelsonville were held Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at 10 a.m. from
Nelsonville Brethren Church with the Rev. Michael Groseclose, officiating.
Interment followed in National Cemetery in Nelsonville. Serving as pallbearers were Darwin Macat, Billy Pfeffer,
Sam Heritage, Frank Macat, John Syptak and Scott Syptak. Honorary pallbearers were David and Doris Siptak, Buddy and Geraldine Siptak, Delphine and Francis
Merkel, Everett Wright and Jason Wright.
Vlasta was born Oct. 30, 1918 in Nelsonville to parents Frank and Albina Sisa Macat.
She was raised in Nelsonville and Industry and attended school in Santa Anna.
Vlasta was baptized on March 6, 1918 by the Rev. Moteschka.
On Sept. 11, 1934 she was united in marriage to Johnnie G. Syptak with the Rev. Moteschka officiating.
Vlasta was a member of Nelsonville Brethren Church and SPJST. She worked for Sweetbriar Nursing Home for
approximately 20 years.
After retiring she stayed home to do all the things she enjoyed, canning, cooking, farming, ranching, gardening,
dominoes, collecting coins, flowers and pictures.
She also enjoyed going to polka dances. Her favorite past time was spent with family and watching TV. Vlasta was
always happy and had a smile and kind word to say.
She passed away on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 in Sealy.
Vlasta is survived by her daughter, Kitty Little of Houston, son, Delvin Syptak of Nelsonville, sister, Sadie
Siptak of Nelsonville, daughter-in-law, Shirley Syptak of Columbus, son-in-law, Everett Wright of Columbus, grandchildren, Gaylynn Hilbun, Lisa Heritage and
husband, Sam, Jason Wright, John Syptak and Scott Syptak; Great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Mackenzie and Skyler Heritage
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Alvina Macat, husband, Johnnie Syptak Sr., daughter, Judy
Wright, son, Johnnie Syptak Jr., sister, Alice Macat, Grace Kasparek and Gladys Broz, brothers, Ernest, Otto, Cotton, and Jessie Macat, grandson, Ricky Syptak,
daughter-in-law Joyce Syptak and son-in-law, Larry Little, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville.
