Lucille Krueger Tefs was born on Feb. 5, 1914, to Fritz and Meta Krueger of Bellville. She attended
the Roach Prairie School in Burleigh.
After completing school, she worked with her father in the Krueger Store and on January 26,
1946, she married Herbert Tefs. She continued to work there until she recently became ill.
Although her main focus was running the store, she also enjoyed cooking and baking cakes. She
enjoyed her flowers, dancing, and visiting her friends. Lucille loved riding around seeing different parts of the county and enjoyed traveling with her daughters
to visit Canada, Niagara Falls, and various parts of the United States.
Lucille was a member of the Methodist Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Woodmen of the
World.
She passed away Aug. 9, 2009, after a brief illness at the home of her daughter, Cherry
Briles, in Katy.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Meta Krueger, husband, Herbert Tefs,
brother, Werner Krueger, sisters, Birdie Willrodt and Lillie Brandt, nephew, Ray W. Willrodt, and niece, Ruby Willrodt Holtz.
She is survived by her children, Cherry Briles and husband, Joe of Katy, Holly Keiser and
husband, John of Houston. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cody and Carson Briles, and Shannon (Briles) Kana and husband, Darren. She is also
survived by Amanda and Kam Keiser, Jeanelle League, her husband Jason, and son Cooper, her nieces and nephews: Marjorie (Krueger)
Davis, Carole (Brandt) Pfeffer and husband, Milton, Gloria (Brandt) Pfeffer and husband, Wilford, Glenn Brandt and Jewel (Brandt) Fontenot, and Alton Holtz
(husband of Ruby Willrodt), 17 great nieces and nephews, and 8 great-great nieces and nephews, husband, Jason, and son, Cooper, her nieces and nephews: Marjorie
(Krueger) Davis, Carole (Brandt) Pfeffer and husband, Milton, Gloria (Brandt) Pfeffer and husband, Wilford, Glenn Brandt and Jewel (Brandt) Fontenot, and Alton
Holtz (husband of Ruby Willrodt), 17 great nieces and nephews, and 8 great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was 5-7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 11, 2009 at Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in
Bellville.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at Schmidt Funeral Home with Pastor Amy
Haralson, Officiating.
Interment was in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. Serving as pallbearers were Joe Briles, Cody
Briles, Carson Briles, John Keiser, Darren Kana and Joey Day.
