Virginia Ann Wilke passed away very early Jan. 3, 2009 at the V. A. Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Virginia was preceded in death by parents, Nadine Nolte Wilke and Walter Wilke and her older
sister, Waldine Jeanette Wilke, all of Bellville.
She leaves behind her sister, Joyce Wilke Pavelka, niece, Carolyn Pavelka Kelley, nephew, Jean R.
Pavelka, Jr., two nieces Kirstyn and Lauren Kelley, and several distant cousins.
Virginia was born at home in Bellville, and spent her childhood in Bellville, attending Bellville
schools and graduating from Bellville High School in 1959.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville.
After high school, Virginia attended Massey’s Business School in Houston and then worked for
awhile at an insurance company in Houston.
Following that, she enlisted in the United States Navy and served her country for 13 years, living
all over the United States and also spent two years in Hawaii. She then came home to Bellville and found work in Brenham where she worked for a number of years.
Virginia retired and moved to The Oaks Retirement Community in Sealy.
When she became incapacitated, in 1994, she checked herself in at the William Courtney Texas State
Veterans’ Home in Temple. She resided there very happily, until her final illness.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at the Texas State Veterans Home in Temple.
