Funeral Services for Clementine Schattel Barton
age 94, 10 a.m., Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 936 South Front, Bellville, Texas 77418 with Rev. Tim Bucek celebrating the
funeral Mass and Rite of Committal.
Interment in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in East Bernard, Texas.
Visitation Wednesday May 19, 2010, 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. with Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased at
7 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Clementine Schattel Barton was born on November 11, 1915 to William and Caroline (Morris) Schattel in East
She passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 16, 2010. Clementine started her life in East Bernard,
later moved to Schattel, Texas and attended boarding School in Shiner, Texas.
She trained to be a nurse caring on a family tradition having 6 sisters who were all nurses. Clementine met the
love of her life, Joseph Francis Barton and they were united in marriage in Wharton, Texas on April 14, 1937.
Over the course of their 53 year marriage they lived in many Texas cities including Rosenberg, San Antonio ,
Victoria , Houston and Rockdale.
Together they raised 6 children practicing a strong faith, love of their country and family.
Clementine is preceded in death by her husband Joe, sons, Thomas and James, son-in-law, Gaylen Ackley and grandson
Mark Ackley. She spent her golden years living in Houston with her youngest daughter Karen Restivo and Family enjoying her 17 grandchildren, 25 great
grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Barton was a devoted fan of the Houston Astros, an avid reader, followed politics closely and enjoyed
daily games of solitaire. She was loved and respected by many and will be missed by all.
Clementine prayed every day for Family, Friends and Peace in our Country.
She is survived by her son, Richard and wife Betty of Columbus, daughter, Kathy Kucera and husband Victor of
Industry, daughter, Mary Ackley of Industry and daughter, Karen Restivo and husband Sam of Houston. Clementine was 1 of 13 children and is survived by one sister,
Willie Mae Bruce of Tennessee . In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Bellville Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 977, Bellville, Texas
