Bertling
Winnie Mae Bertling, 81, of La Marque, passed away peacefully Sunday at Clear
Lake Regional Medical Center, in Webster, Texas.
Winnie was born and raised in Snook and graduated Valedictorian from Snook High
School. She held an associates degree from Blinn College where she was a cheerleader and beauty queen.
She was one of three children born to the late Frank and Olga Orsak and was the
beloved wife of Francis (Penny) Bertling for over 61 years.
Winnie will forever be remembered by her loving sisters Georgette Enquist and
Janette Schulenberg, and her beloved children Linda Kay Kragh, Gary Wayne Bertling, Nancy Diane Bertling, Deborah Ann Preisler and Sharon Lea Bertling, she had
eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.
Winnie grew up on a cotton farm. She was a great cook and loved the time she
spent with all the children around her. Winnie touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the
way to the end.
Services were held at First Baptist Church, Bellville, Wednesday, June 9, 2010
at 9 a.m. with Brother Steve Olsen officiating.
Internment followed at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Bellville, TX. A reception was held at
