Funeral services for Bertha Dyer, 70, of Bellville were held on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 3 p.m.. at St. John
Lutheran Church in Bellville.
Interment was in the Phillipsburg Lutheran Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Mike Mueller, Steve Zapalac, Kyle Hollaway, Kevin Klump, Gary Pless and Glenn Lange.
Honorary pallbearers were Melvin Hinzel and Gene Mens.
Bertha was born to parents Bruno and Anna (Krueger) Scharff in Brenham. She was raised in Brenham and graduated
from Brenham High School in 1958.
Bertha went on to graduate from Blinn College in 1960.
On June 20, 1969 the former Miss Bertha Scharff was joined in marriage to Mr. Joel Dyer with a ceremony held at
St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg.
Bertha worked for Washington Co. State Bank in Brenham for 10 years and First National Bank of Bellville for 40
years where she held the position of Vice President.
In November of this year Bertha would have been in the banking industry for 50 years.
Bertha grew up on a farm and that attributed to her strong work ethic. She loved music, to travel,
especially in the mountains, flowers and bird watching. Bertha played the organ at St. Paul Lutheran Church and volunteered with the American Red Cross.
Bertha Dyer passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010 in Bellville.
Bertha is survived by her husband Joel Dyer of Bellville, son John Dyer and wife Sheila of Chappell Hill,
grandchildren, Chase, Chance and Katelyn Dyer, sisters, Martha Jean Brumley of Austin and Mary Ellen Culver and husband Fred of Austin, nephew, Curtis Brumley of
