James “Jim” Holloway was born May 24, 1929, in Haslet, Texas, the
son of Charles “Ed” and Eva Holloway.
He graduated from Courtney High School in Martin County, Texas.
Jim then married Billie Glaze on Jan. 14, 1950.
He served four years in the United States Army. Jim graduated from Texas A&M University in May
He was then employed by the First Bank and Trust in Bryan, Texas, then went on to serve at several
other financial institutions. Jim retired from Bill Johnson Real Estate in 2006.
Jim was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and served many years as a
committee man. He was well-known in Austin County for his participation in local cook-offs. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was an
avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Jim passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, in Bellville, surrounded by his family, at the age of 80. He
is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years Billie (Bill) Holloway, of Bellville; children Kyle Holloway and his wife Peggy, of Bellville and Wade
Holloway; grandchildren Dwayne Holloway and his wife, Jennifer, April Bebee, Shawn Holloway and his wife, Stephanie, Chad Holloway and his wife, Kayce, Cord
Holloway Boyette, Tye Holloway, Shelby Holloway and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Gene Holloway and his wife, Pat; sisters Joy Powell,
Phyllis Blanton, Nancy Duncan and her husband, Clindl and numerous nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Virgil Holloway and Kenneth Lee Holloway
and niece, Lori Susan Holloway.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers from Bellville General Hospital and Colonial
Belle Nursing Home for all their love and care.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at Bellville United Methodist Church,.
Funeral Service was 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at Bellville United Methodist Church with
Pastor Robert Stutes and Pastor Amy Haralson officiating.
Interment was in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville.
Pallbearers were Shawn Holloway, Chad Holloway, Tye Holloway, Lynton Holloway, Jerry Jenkins,
Jim Jenkins, Billy Dan Holladay, Dwayne Holloway.
Honorary Pallbearers were Gerald Tegeler, Jeff Haugen, Brian Taylor, Michael Stovall, Bill Johnson,
George Salifti, Gary Inglish, Mike Koehn.
