David Carl Hugo was born Feb. 2, 1959 to Melvin and Pearl Hugo in Houston.
He grew up in Bellville, where he attended Bellville High School and graduated in 1977. After high
school, David started working in the oil field. He continued in this field and after many years, David went to work for Knight Oil Tools as a salesman.
David married his sweetheart, Denise Vitek, on Aug. 18, 1984. They made their home in Bellville and
their marriage was blessed with three children - Keith, Lacie, and Josh.
David had two passions in life. His first was drag racing. He always enjoyed working on cars, which
grew into a love for working on and driving race cars. He had been racing cars ever since his high school days. Always pushing to be better and faster, David was
a perfectionist and mastered everything he did. If he did not know how to do something, he would learn and perfect it. He applied this philosophy to every aspect
of his life.
Davidís passion for drag racing came no where near his passion and love that he had for his
family. As with everyone else, he placed his family before himself and would do anything to see them happy. His good natured spirit, and calm, laid back attitude
allowed him to be the greatest dad and husband anyone could have.
David was strong. His strength was unwavering and he fought until the very end.
David is survived by his wife of 25 years, Denise Vitek Hugo; sons Keith Alan Hugo of Austin and
Joshua Dean Hugo of Bellville; daughter Lacie Marie Hugo of San Marcos; mother Pearl Gaskamp Hugo of Brenham; brother Lloyd Alan Hugo of Bellville; sister and
brother-in-law Janice and George Wied of Bellville; numerous aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and
David was preceded in death by his father Melvin Hugo, and infant brother James Hugo; grandparents
