Klausmeyer
Irene Klausmeyer, 88, widow of Arnold Klausmeyer, Sr., died Sept. 30, 2010 in
Brenham Rest Home.
Funeral services were Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at 3 p.m. in Salem Lutheran Church of
Welcome.
Pastor David Klack officiated, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The
family received friends and relatives from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Mrs. Klausmeyer was born Sept. 28, 1922 in Somerville to Benhart and Ella Rudloff
Spiess.
She was baptized April 1, 1923 in the Lutheran Church in Lyons and confirmed
March 21, 1937 by Pastor Mansur in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome.
Irene was educated in Austin County public schools. On Sept. 5, 1945, she was
married to Arnold Klausmeyer, Sr. in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome by Pastor Walter Wolf. She was employed as a charge attendant in the healthcare field.
Irene enjoyed gardening, and especially enjoyed taking her grandchildren
swimming, fishing, and rabbit hunting. She served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts, and was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome.
Survivors include sons Arnold Klausmeyer, Jr. of Industry; Ben Klausmeyer and
wife Dorothy of Wesley; daughter Barbara Hurtig and husband Ronnie of Welcome; grandchildren: Robert and Jennifer Hurtig, Reese and Rachel Hurtig, Ronda and
Darrel Pesl, Jason and Danielle Klausmeyer, Ryan Klausmeyer, Brad Klausmeyer and fiance, Megan Pieper, Amber Klausmeyer, Ashley and Lloyd Spotted Wolf, Russell
and Cindy Klausmeyer, Rodney Klausmeyer, and Ricky Klausmeyer; eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Benjamin and MayDell Spiess of
Welcome; Johnnie and Gail Spiess of Welcome; sisters and brothers-in-law Carrie and Virgil Luedeker of Industry, and Gladys and Luther Blezinger of New Ulm, and
her special friend at Brenham Rest Home, Mrs. Adela Schroeder. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Klausmeyer,
along with other relatives.
Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, and honorary pallbearers will be Darrel
Pesl, Lloyd Spotted Wolf, and Marian Balke.
Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome or to Hospice
Brazos Valley. The family extends special thanks to the staffs of Brenham Rest Home and Hospice Brazos Valley for their excellent care.
