Jesse “Jack” Kness, 87, passed on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 in Brenham.
He is survived by his wife Ann Kness of Bellville, son, Larry Philip Kness, Sr. and wife Debbie of Dayton,
step-daughter, Gloria Whiteley and husband Mark of Lumberton,, step-sons, Kenneth Valka and wife Beverly of Temple and Bill Valka and wife Barbara of Spring,
mother of his son, Novelle Kness of Splendora, grandchildren, Larry P. Kness, Jr., Justin, Kness, Philip Kness, step-grandchildren, Chris Valka, Michael Valka,
Vanessa Valka, Valerie Valka, Jason Whiteley, Adam Whiteley and Frances Whiteley and 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Myrtle Kness, 8 brothers and 2 sisters.
Jack was born Sept. 29, 1922 in Kuenemo, Kansas to parents James Edward and Myrtle (Kirk) Kness.
He was raised in Oklahoma and moved to Texas in 1942.
Jack proudly served his country as a Ship Fitter Third Class in the United States Navy during World War II.
On Feb. 14, 1981 Mr. Jack Kness was joined in marriage Ms. Ann Dornak Valka with a ceremony held in Houston.
Jack worked for many years as a Chemical Plant Operator and he enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of
First Baptist Church of Bellville and American Legion.
Funeral Service were held Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at 10 a.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Home in Bellville with the
Rev. Steve Olsen officiating.
Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Bellville.
Pallbearers were Zack Hicks, Larry (Jack) Kness, Jr., Adam Graham Whiteley, Justin Douglas Kness, Phillip Wayne
Kness and Mark Wayne Whiteley.
