Funeral Services for Dennis Korenek, 80, of Wallis at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Guardian Angel
Catholic Church, 2610 Demel, Wallis, with the Rev. Thuy Quang Nguyen celebrating the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal.
Interment in the Wallis City Cemetery.
Visitation, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Guardian Angel Church from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Rosary at 7 p.m.
Dennis Korenek went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2010. Dennis was born on Sept. 8, 1929 in Nelsonville to
Ladgie and Lillie Korenek.
He graduated from Wallis High School and began working for Koy Concrete and then moving on to be a machinist for
WKM and Cameron Iron Works.
On Oct. 6, 1957 Dennis married Dorothy Pavliska.
He became the father of three sons, Kenneth, Gary and Mike. He was a member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church,
KJT, SPJST, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion in Wallis. He also served his country in the Korean War and was an Honorary member of the Wallis Fire
Dennis’ greatest civic passion was the American Legion where he held the position of Finance Officer for 28
years. Dennis was extremely proud of the Wallis Post. He met many friends through the Legion at conventions and conferences that always put a smile on his face.
Dennis loved for the family to get together for bar-be-ques in the back yard, working in the yard and tending to
his garden.He also raised chickens and sold eggs to many folks that turned into friendships that lasted for years. He liked going to Coushatta to try his luck on
the slots, working at the KC hall selling tickets at the fish fry‘s and tending the bar at the Legion hall for any event taking place there, especially bingo
every Thursday night.
Dennis is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, parents Ladgie and Lillie Korenek and brother Eldon.
He is survived by his, sons Kenneth Wayne and Michael Joseph of Wallis, son Gary Lee and wife Lisa, also of
Wallis, sister-in-laws Annie Mae Korenek of Wallis and Elnora Barcak of Rosenberg . Eight grandchildren, Courtney, Amy, Kenneth II, Justin, Jonathon, Amanda,
Braidyn and Reagan. Dennis was also fortunate to have three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Andrew and Grace. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Kenneth Korenek II, Justin Korenek, Jonathon Korenek, Kenneth E. Korenek, Gary Davis and Mike
Jurasek. Honorary pallbearers are Andrew Dirba, Sawyer Stanley and Reid Williams.
