Schomburg

Funeral services for Oscar H. Schomburg, 93, of Bellville, Texas were held Friday, July 16, 2010 from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Fox, officiating. Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. 

Pallbearers were Lewis Stephenson, Mason Galow, Crockett Leyendecker, Howard Schomburg, Jerry Jasek and Darrell B. Faldyn. 

Oscar was born on Jan.  22, 1917 in Kenney to parents, William C. Schomburg and Dora Meier Schomburg. He was raised and lived his entire life in Austin County.

Oscar was united in marriage to Annie Zettel on July 30, 1940 in Bellville.

He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation where he maintained the highway signs. Oscar enjoyed fishing.  He passed away on July 13, 2010 in Houston, Texas.

Oscar is survived by his sons, Oscar Schomburg Jr., and wife, Sybil of Spring, Texas and Roger Schomburg and wife, Becky of St. Louis, Missouri, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren along with numerous other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Dora Schomburg, wife, Annie Schomburg, daughter, Doris Jean Brown, sister, Elda Zettel and three brothers, George, Paul and Herbert Schomburg.
