Justin John (J.J.) Vitek. 36. passed away peacefully, Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 surrounded by family and friends
after losing his battle with cancer.
He was born March 28, 1973 in Houston to Edward and Kathy Vitek.
While attending Sul Ross University, he met Sean Wright and Edwin Eppenauer who was responsible for getting him
started in his career as a jockey, which became his life’s passion.
As he raced coast-to-coast he touched many lives. His long legacy of compassion and his vibrant smile will carry
on through his daughter, Bree.
Justin was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, who was the very best at love, strength, courage,
sacrafice, dignity and faith.
He was met at the gates of Heaven by his grandparents, Monica and Justin Vitek, Gertie and John Haw and uncle
Rance. He is survived by his daughter, Bree Vitek, his parents, Edward and Kathy Vitek, sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Bobby Heath, nieces, Jamie Gresham and
Genifer Heath and nephews, Justin Gresham and Travis Heath.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 2610 Demel St., Wallis
Texas 77485 with the Rev. Thuy Quang Nguyen celebrating the funeral mass.
Justin also attended UT El Paso and The University of Phoenix.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Wallis and was a 1991 graduate of Brazos Hi-School. In Lieu of
flowers, the family requests donations may be made to Don Macbeth Memorial Fund or M.D. Anderson Stem Cell Research.
