Clarence Alfred Zettel was born on February 4, 1937, in Austin County, Texas, the son of Alfred J. and Celia
Shupak Zettel. He grew up in the Austin County area and attended Santa Anna elementary and Bellville High School. He then moved to Bleiblerville in 1971.
A Brethren by faith, Clarence was united in marriage to Ruth Schroeder on March 1, 1958, at the Welcome Lutheran
Church. Clarence and Ruth made their home in Bleiblerville, where he was a carpenter. He also was a member of Woodman of the World and SPJST.
Clarence enjoyed fishing and gardening. He loved his family and the joy of his life were his grandchildren and
Clarence passed away on Monday, May 24, 2010, at his home in Bleiblerville. He is survived by his loving wife of
over 52 years: Ruth Zettel of Bleiblerville; son: Clarence Zettel Jr. of Bleiblerville; daughter: Brenda Garrett and her husband, Roger, of Bellville;
granddaughters: Kimberly Brokmeyer and her husband, Andy, of Bellville, and Courtney Hernandez and her husband, Vincent, of Bleiblerville; step granddaughter:
Jaclyn Duncan and her husband, Lance of Mexia, Texas; great grandchildren: Samuel Elijah Brokmeyer and Alaya Marena Hernandez; step great grandson: Cade Alan
Duncan. He is also survived by his brother: Alfred Zettel and his wife, Marlene, of Industry; sister: Benolye Krause and her husband, Edward, of Industry;
mother-in-law: Lydia Schroeder; brother-in-law: Larry Schroeder and his wife, Carol; sisters-in-law: Corine Lakey, Angelie Franke and her husband, Charles;
brother-in-law: Wendell Eckermann; and numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Donna Jo Zettel, great grandson, Gabriel Samuel Brokmeyer,
father-in-law, Edward Schroeder and sister-in-law Margaret Eckermann.
Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Schmidt Funeral Home.
Funeral service was at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Nelsonville Brethren Church with Reverend Mike
Interment was at the National Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Andy Brokmeyer, Terry Shupak, Troy Schomburg, Shane Siptak, Gary Shupak, and Kevin Gross.
Honorary Pallbearer was Vincent Hernandez.
