Graveside services for Patricia Ann (Pepper) Barham, 71, of Flint, Texas, and a former resident of Somerville, were 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville with Rev. Larry Embry officiating.

Interment followed. Visitation was from 2-7 p.m. Friday and resumed at 10 a.m. Saturday until noon at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville.

Mrs. Barham died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

Patricia was born Aug. 29, 1939 in Junction City, La., the daughter of Alton and Lola Marie (Grafton) Pepper.

She was married at a very young age to Earnest Richard Barham, Jr. and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was very community minded, and proved that she was a very caring and loving person who showed her generosity by helping everyone she was able. She owned and operated a Thift Shop and no one ever suffered through a winter without a coat, if Patricia knew about it. She was always charitable to everyone and cared about others more than herself.

She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Somerville and was an active member of County Line Baptist Church in Bullard until her health failed.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Al Covey of Bullard; her sons and daughters-in-law, Earnest and Cheri Barham of Brenham, Kenneth and Kathy Barham of Brenham, and Robert and Cynthia Barham of Flower Mound; a sister, Martha Jean Barham of Burton; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a special niece, Sonora; along with her best and dearest friend, Valeria Schoppe of Somerville.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. We invite you to visit our website at and sign the on-line register book for Patricia.
