Funeral Services for Harvey Kenneth Beil, 75, of Bellville were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2011 at
Bellville United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Stutes and Rev. Amy Haralson officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Robert Charpoit, Lloyd Graham, Brian Krause, Mike Mullen, Craig Mullen, Herbert
Oubre, Kevin Wingo and Will Wingo.
Harvey Kenneth Beil was born Dec. 11, 1935 in Covington, Kentucky to parents Harvey George Beil and Mary
Elizabeth Taylor Beil. He was baptized in The Erlanger Methodist Church in Erlanger, KY.
Ken graduated from Boone County High School in Burlington, KY in 1953, attended the University of Kentucky for
2 semesters and finished his education as a machinist. He served in the U.S. Army from August, 1959 to August, 1961, then in the Army Reserves until 1965,
when he received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of SP-4.
He started his career of over 40 years in the steel pipe business at Interlake Steel Co. in Covington, KY and
moved to Liberty, TX in 1976 where he was employed by National Pipe and Tube Co., and where he met his future wife, Wanda.
In 1986 he moved back to Kentucky to care for his ailing parents, during which time he and Wanda were married
in 1987. Always wanting to move back to the Houston area to be near their children and grandchildren, the opportunity arose in 1995 when he was hired to
head the operation of Bellville Tube Company. He was named President in 1996. He was greatly admired by his co-workers and business associates for his
complete honest, integrity and fairness in dealing with everyone.
On June 30, 2005, Ken retired his position in order to pursue his life long hobbies of hunting and fishing –
being a charter member and lifetime member of Bass Anglers Sportsman Society.
During his 18 years in Bellville, Ken has served on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, The Bellville
Industrial Board, and Volunteered with the High School R.A.P. Program, actively supported the Austin County Youth Auction every year, faithfully attended
Bellville United Methodist Church, The Methodist Men’s Organization and served on several committees of the church.
Ken was a Master Mason, Burlington Lodge #268 AF&AM, Scottish Rite and Shriner as well as a member of the
Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
His long battle with cancer ended on June 7, 2011 at his home at the age of 75 years.
Ken is survived by his wife of 24 years, Wanda May Turner Beil, son, Stephen Taylor Beil and wife Valerie Bell
and their children, Ashley, Victoria, Tyler, Austin and Julia, daughter, Constance Jo Oubre and husband Herbert and their children, Mary Elizabeth Cavalier
and husband Ernest, Leah Marie Carroll and husband Dwight, Herbert D. Oubre, Jr. and wife Amanda and grandchildren of Constance, Quint and Summer Cavalier,
and Levi Carroll, daughter, Pamela Lynne Shuford and her children, Troy Shuford, Jr. and Mindy Shuford, stepdaughter, Karla Wynne Hughes Bean and her son Ben
Lamar Bean III, step granddaughter, Allison Nichole Hughes Mutts and her husband Chris and son Caden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey George and Mary Elizabeth Beil, brother, Frank Beil, step son,
Gregory Wayne Hughes.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Methodist Children’s Home, 1111 Herring Avenue,
Waco, Texas 76708.
