 MILDRED MATEJA BLAKEY

Mildred Mateja Blakey was born March 27, 1923, in San Felipe the daughter of Martin and Annie Gregurek Mateja. She grew up and attended schools in the San Felipe and Frydek areas. A Catholic by faith, Mildred was united in marriage to Floyd Blakey on Sept. 22, 1949, in San Felipe, Texas, where they made their home.

Mildred and Floyd lived on a ranch, where they were blessed with two sons, Adrian and William. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She worked on their family ranch all of her life and tended to the chores alone when Floyd became ill.

Mildred was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, and taking care of her animals.

Mildred passed away peacefully at her home in San Felipe with her family by her side on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the age of 88. She is survived by her son:  Adrian Blakey and his fiancÚ, Dusty Kelly, of San Felipe; granddaughter:  Kristi Flores and her husband, Alex, of San Felipe; step grandchildren:  Cheryl Barrett and her family, and Gloria Howard and her family, all of Sealy; great grandchildren:  Ashley Flores and Megan Flores, both of San Felipe. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Blakey, son, William Henry Blakey, two brothers, and 3 sisters.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Sunday, July 17, 2011, Schmidt Funeral Home, Bellville.

Funeral service, 10 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2011, Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, Harry Brisco, officiating.

Pallbearers, Dennis Einkauf, Derek Einkauf, Chris Ryland, Bud Dumesnil, Joe Klotz,  Raymond Klotz.

Homorary pallbearers, Larry Rapsilver, Jack Craig.

Interment, San Felipe Cemetery, San Felipe.
