Damon Frederick Donahue, loving husband and father passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 at home after a
long illness. He was 61.
Born June 22, 1950 in Houston to Henry Frederick Donahue and Elsie Juanita Dobbs he attended Bellaire
High School, and the University of Houston Downtown.
His early career in sales was with Dunn & Bradstreet and later he affiliated with Lawrence
Marshall Car Dealerships of Hempstead.
For several years, along with his wife, he owned and published The Silver Dollar and The Front Page,
local community newspapers in the Bellville and Katy areas.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marjorie Post Donahue; a daughter, Rebecca Donahue Gay and
husband M. Austin Gay of The Woodlands; mother, Elsie J. “Nita” Donahue of Houston; sisters, Karen Moore and husband John Moore of Houston and Pam Vear of
Bastrop; also several nieces.
He was predeceased by his father Henry Frederick Donahue.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 from the Knesek Bros. Funeral
Chapel, 842 E Main in Bellville with Gary Richards, officiating.
Interment followed in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville with Mike Derr, Joe Jozwiak, Mike
McGuire, Bill Pearson, Josh Pearson, and Mike Wilson serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers were Bobby Barrett, Jim Courtney, Mike Flynt, Craig Harnly,
Frank Harrison, Al Niemi, Monte O’Neal, Jesse Patterson, Mike Piccolo and Richard Rabe.
The family wishes to thank those at Houston Hospice for their compassionate care. Donations in the
Damon’s name may be made to the Donor’s charity of choice.
