Frank Louis Hegar was born August 11, 1924, in Hockley, Harris County, Texas to parents August E. and
Tina Krueger Hegar and baptized into the Christian faith.
Frank grew up on the farm he loved and graduated from Waller High School in 1941. He worked on the
farm growing rice, corn and peanuts. In 1946, he and his brothers formed Hegar Brothers, a farming and cattle operation in Hockley and later also in the
Mississippi Delta. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting trips to Colorado with family and friends.
On December 17, 1974, Frank was united in marriage to Lorene Pfeffer Martens at St. John Lutheran
Church of Bellville by the Rev. Willie Rotter. They spent their life on the farm.
Frank was a quiet man with a generous heart. He loved working on “projects” and was always
interested in what his son-in-law was fixing or working on. He believed in hard work. His love for animals was evident by his letting them live out their
lives grazing in the pasture behind the house. His love for fellow man was shown by his support of various charities. Frank loved his family dearly and was
supportive of all their endeavors.
Frank passed from this life to join his Heavenly Father in the early morning hours of Thursday,
October 13, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents August E. and Tina Hegar; brothers August E. “Slim” Hegar, Jr. and Lawrence Hegar, Sr.;
sister-in-law Faye Sanford Hegar; and son-in-law Robbie Ray Barrett.
He is survived by his wife Lorene Hegar; daughters Peggy Jones and her husband Isaac and Patsy
Barrett; grandchildren Chris and Marty Jones, Jason Barrett, and Jamie Jones; great-grandchildren Derrick Jones and Christian Lopez; brother A.B. “Boots”
Hegar; special nieces and nephews Judy Ripple, Kathy Friedel, Karen Cook, Ronda Hegar, Glenn Hegar Sr., Mary Lynn Hegar and Larry Hegar; and several grand and
