Selma Johanna Iselt, 94, of Bellville passed away on Dec. 12, 2011.
She was born on Feb. 12, 1917, in Nordheim, Texas, to the late Ernst and Emma Huck Pfeifer. She grew up in
Nordheim and was a graduate of Nordheim High School.
Selma worked as the credit manager for Sears in Wharton for many years and then as cashier at R & B
Clinic in Wharton.
She married Willie Heil on June 16, 1940 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nordheim. After his death, she
married Robert Blum at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wharton on Feb. 7, 1971. After his death, she married Romeo Iselt at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville
in Nov. 22, 1993.
Selma was always active in church activities in all the churches to which she belonged. She served on the
church council, as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, held offices in the church women’s organization, and served on the Altar Guild. She
served on the Trinity Medical Center Auxiliary in Brenham, belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of Hermann, Polka Lovers Klub of America, Town and
Country Garden Club, Texas German Society, served as secretary in the Sealy Chapter of AARP, and worked at the Sens Center.
She loved to cook and bake. She also enjoyed traveling and traveled to many places across the United States.
Selma and Romeo enjoyed dancing and playing dominoes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Willie Heil, Robert Blum and Romeo Iselt; and brothers
Alfred Pfeifer and Alvin Pfeifer.
She is survived by sisters Hertha Konrad and Norma Karnei; step-son Wilfred Krause; step-daughters Pat Hobbs
and Katie Janik; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family receives friends at the church, beginning at 10 a.m. prior to the funeral service which will be 11
a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Wharton.
Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville or donor’s choice.
