Mr. Larry James Johnson of Bellville passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 10, 2011 at the St Joseph Regional
Health Center, Bryan.
Larry was born on Aug. 7, 1945 in Lubbock to the late Mr. George Thomas and Mrs. Agnus Ella Hamilton Johnson.
He attended public school in Bellville.
On Jan. 13, 1968, Larry married the love of life Miss Betty Lois Riniker at St. John Lutheran Church,
Bellville. They were blessed with a son, Lance Wayne and a daughter, Shannon Lea Johnson.
Larry had a passion for fishing, hunting and going to Turkey Shoots. He also loved spending quality time with
his grandchildren; watching his grandsons play baseball and soccer, showing lambs and heifers at the Fair; listing to the Bellville Brahmas football team on
the radio, and watching the Astros and Texans on TV with his dog, Mo. Larry loved going to Matagorda and Port O’Conner fishing; like going to the casino
with his wife and sister-in-law, Karen Curtis, and riding around on the golf cart at “The Farm” with his grandchildren and dogs. He also enjoyed visiting
with his many friends, and his neighbors, Huey and Dana Chancellor and the girls.
Larry worked for the Texas Department of Transportation (Tx Dot) retiring after 20 years of service. Prior to
working for TxDot, he worked for Schlumberger in Houston and Brenham.
He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. He served as an usher. In his early years, Larry
served as a fireman for the Bellville Volunteer Fire Department and for a short period of time with the Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, George and Agnus Johnson and two sisters, Ann Janosky and Wanda
Kaminsky and his father-in-law, Guss Riniker.
He leaves to cherish his fun and loving memories; his wife of 43 years, Betty Lois Johnson, son, Lance Wayne
Johnson (Tamara), daughter, Shannon Lea Johnson (Leonard Gross), sister, Joella Schroeder (Milton), two brother-in laws, Pete Kaminski and Raymond Janosky,
grandchildren, Darren Lizotte, Dylan Dawson Johnson, Stacey Kasberg and Nathan Sodolak, many nieces and nephews and friends. and a host of relatives and
